HOUSTON, TX – One person was killed when a driver fleeing a police pursuit crashed a vehicle into a fence in east Houston early this morning.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the accident happened in the 10000 block of Wallisville Road at about 12:30 a.m.

The pursuit began after a report had been made to police that a duo had allegedly stolen a generator from a trucking company.

Authorities found the suspects, and the chase began. During the chase, the trailer that was carrying the generator detached and went into a ditch.

The driver, Diamante Brena, 18, continued going after the trailer fell off, and during the pursuit, she struck a curb. She lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into a chain-link fence.

A passenger, who has yet to be publicly identified, was impaled on the fence during the collision. They were taken to the hospital, where they died of their injuries.

Brena, who was out on bond for a firearm-related charge, is facing a charge of felony murder. She was not reported as injured during the collision.
