8-year-old girl critically injured after being hit by SUV on Ella Blvd

HOUSTON, TX – An 8-year-old girl was sent to the hospital after she was struck by a driver on Ella Boulevard early Thursday morning, according to KHOU.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Ella Blvd and Kuykendahl Road just before 8 a.m., when an 8-year-old girl reportedly ran by herself across the road, where she was struck by a woman driving a black SUV. The child was thrown into the air upon impact.

The girl was taken to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.

The driver stopped and attempted to render aid to the young victim until help arrived.

There are reportedly no crosswalks in the area where the accident happened.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
