Alleged drunk driver tries to run over officer, crashes into fire truck

CHANNELVIEW, TX (HARRIS COUNTY) – A man is facing charges after he attempted to strike a Harris County Sheriff’s deputy and then collided with a fire truck in northeast Harris County this weekend.

According to KTRK, the accident happened in the Channelview area on Wallisville Road, near Sheldon Road, at about 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

A deputy with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was on the scene, responding to a separate collision, when a driver attempted to run the officer over.

The driver missed, then collided twice with a fire truck responding to the crash. The driver fled the scene, but after a short pursuit, was taken into police custody.

No injuries were immediately reported as a result of the crash.

The driver, who has yet to be publicly identified, is facing charges of DWI and assaulting an officer.
