Narrative

HOUSTON, TX – The reckless driver of a pickup truck caused two head-on collisions that killed two people and injured another in Houston on Monday.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on the west side of the city, near the intersection of Synott Road and Clarewood Drive.

Police say that a northbound pickup truck struck both a southbound Nissan Altima and a southbound Chevy Malibu head-on while attempting to pass other northbound vehicles.

Both the wrong-way driver and the driver of the Chevy died at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident. Authorities have not yet released their identities.

Medics transported the driver of the Nissan to a local hospital with non-critical injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
