Narrative

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A woman died early Friday following a crash involving an 18-wheeler on Interstate 10 near west Channelview.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the wreck occurred on the outbound lanes at 15384 East Freeway (I-10), just east of Beltway 8. It was first reported at about 3:41 a.m.

While the circumstances of the accident were are unclear, up to three vehicles, including the big rig, were involved. A woman who was ejected from one of the vehicles died from her injuries at the scene.

Authorities have not disclosed the conditions of the other occupants involved.

A closure in the area created three-hour delays. Drivers were advised to use Market Street to return to I-10 through Sheldon.

At the time of ABC13’s report at 7:10 a.m., the interstate had been reopened.

An investigation remains ongoing.
