Narrative
Sixteen people, including 13 children, were injured Sunday afternoon when a small bus flipped over in Houston’s Timberwood area. The rollover occurred at around 12:00 p.m., near an apartment complex located at 90 Uvalde Road. Officials with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said 25 people, all members of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Cloverleaf, were aboard the bus at the time. Fourteen of the sixteen injured occupants were transported to local hospitals, and at least one patient was listed in critical condition. An investigation remains underway, but authorities said the bus driver, who was not hurt, was speeding while trying to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to crash. At this time, drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been factors.
