HPD officer hospitalized after early-morning hit-and-run downtown

HOUSTON, TX – A driver running a traffic light caused a collision in downtown Houston yesterday that led to the hospitalization of a Houston Police officer, according to KTRK.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Hamilton and Gray at about 1:20 a.m. when a driver, whose identity and vehicle description have yet to be released, sped through a red light.

The suspect collided with a Houston patrol vehicle, causing it to flip over, then fled the scene.

The officer, who also has yet to be publicly identified, was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Authorities are continuing to search for the suspect.
