Man dead, woman hurt after car crashes into funeral home in possible street race

HOUSTON, TX – A man was killed, and a woman was hospitalized during a possible street racing incident in which a driver crashed into a funeral home early Monday morning.

According to KTRK, the accident happened at about 12:15 a.m. near the intersection of W Montgomery Road and W Mt. Houston Road, as a driver may have been racing another person. He lost control of his vehicle, then struck a curb. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and crash into the Paradise Funeral Home.

The driver was ejected during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger was taken to the hospital in stable condition for the treatment of undisclosed injuries.

The driver of the second racing vehicle is thought to have fled the scene. Authorities continue to search for the driver and their vehicle as they investigate the accident.
