HOUSTON, TX – A man pushing a shopping cart near the East Freeway was fatally struck by two vehicles last night in the Port Houston area, according to KTRK.

The accident happened near Wayside and the East Freeway (I-10) at about 10 p.m.

A man, who has yet to be publicly identified, was pushing a shopping cart in the middle of the I-10 feeder road when he was struck by a vehicle. His body was sent airborne and was then struck by a second driver.

The victim died at the scene.

According to investigators, the dim lighting in the area likely contributed to the crash.

Both drivers remained at the scene and have cooperated with the investigation. Authorities do not believe that either of the two was intoxicated when the crash happened.

The collision will likely be treated as an accident, and officials do not expect to press charges against the drivers.
