HOUSTON, TX – A woman crossing the street was fatally struck by a driver in southwest Houston last week, according to KHOU.
The accident occurred in the 10900 block of the Southwest Freeway on Thursday night as a woman was crossing the street.
The victim died at the scene.
According to witnesses, the victim may have been distracted on her phone when she crossed the street, though this was not immediately confirmed. The area is also not well-lit, and police believe that the dim lighting may have contributed to the collision.
The driver remained at the scene, and is not thought to have been under the influence.
