Narrative
LUBBOCK, TX – A 78-year-old pedestrian died Wednesday evening after a vehicle struck him at a busy Lubbock intersection.
The incident happened at 8:02 p.m. at the intersection of 98th Street and Slide Road, which is just north of Play Street Museum and south of LakeRidge Country Club.
Police say the victim was crossing 98th street when an eastbound passenger van hit and killed him. Authorities identified the victim as Walter Wilkins.
It’s unclear if the van remained at the scene of the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
