Driver arrested after crash in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, TX – A woman was injured and a driver was arrested following an accident in Brownsville on Friday, KRGV reports. 

The crash occurred in the 300 block of Bowie and involved a maroon Chevrolet Equinox and a black Toyota Corolla.

The 21-year-old man driving the Equinox had been speeding through the area when he struck the passenger side of the Corolla, causing major damage to both vehicles.

After the crash the Equinox driver attempted to flee the scene but was chased and caught by onlookers who pinned him down. He smelled strongly of alcohol and had marijuana and cocaine in his car.

The 41-year-old woman in the Corolla was taken to the hospital with a severe laceration to her face. The man in the Equinoz was charged with intoxication assault, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
