1 dead, multiple left hurt after crash on FM 1053 in Crane County

CRANE COUNTY, TX — A 29-year-old woman died Saturday morning after a wreck that hurt three others on Farm to Market Road 1053 near Crane, reports NewsWest9.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the fatal accident happened about 16 miles west of the city, shortly after 7:00 a.m.

According to authorities, a Fort Stockton woman was driving an SUV southbound on FM 1053 at the same time a pickup truck was traveling northbound on the same road. At one point, the woman’s vehicle veered past the center line and collided with the pickup.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed officials.

All three of the pickup’s occupants suffered injuries considered non-life-threatening. One patient was treated and released at the scene. The other two were transported to Crane Memorial Hospital, where one has since been released and the other is listed in stable condition.

No further details have been disclosed, but an investigation by DPS remains ongoing.
