Driver killed in collision after running stop sign in Midland

MIDLAND, TX — According to CBS7, a 67-year-old woman was fatally injured Wednesday night in a two-vehicle accident near south Midland.

Midland Police responded to the scene at the corner of South Big Spring Street and West New Jersey Avenue at around 10:40 p.m.

An early investigation shows the woman was driving a white 2020 Chevrolet Spark heading west on West New Jersey Avenue when she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection. Moments later, the Chevrolet collided with a red 2015 GMC Sierra pickup truck going northbound on South Big Spring Street.

Officials said the crash sent the Chevrolet veering to the north, where it slammed into a small tree.

EMS crews transported the woman to Midland Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she later died.

No injuries to the other driver or anyone else have been reported.

At this time, no further details have been shared.
