Midland man dies after hit-and-run crash on US-285 in Reeves County

REEVES COUNTY, TX — According to YourBasin, a 31-year-old Midland resident was killed early Sunday in a hit-and-run crash on U.S. Highway 285 near southeast Orla.

Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene at the intersection with County Road 437 at about 1:00 a.m.

Details remain limited at this time, but investigators said the incident involved a vehicle that was heading eastbound on CR-432 toward US-285.

The Midland man was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Authorities said the driver of the striking vehicle fled the site before first responders arrived.

It was not immediately clear whether the victim was a pedestrian or driving another vehicle at the time of the crash.

A search for the suspect and an investigation remains underway.
