Narrative
SAN ANGELO, TX – A 70-year-old man died on Tuesday morning after crashing his pickup truck along the highway in south San Angelo.
The collision happened at 5:50 a.m. on the southbound side of US-277 near Ratliff Road, which is just east of San Angelo Regional Airport – Mathis Field.
Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver travelled across the northbound side of the highway, left the road, and collided with a pole. He died at the scene. Authorities have identified the victim as Dale Edward Winey of San Angelo.
No one else was hurt in the accident, which remains under investigation.
