16-year-old dead after falling beneath wheels of truck in possible hitchhiking crash

SCHERTZ, TX – Authorities believe a teenage boy was killed after getting caught beneath the wheels of an 18-wheeler truck on I-35 in Schertz on Tuesday night, according to KSAT.

Officers were called to the I-35 feeder road near FM 1103 at about 9:50 p.m., after a witness spotted the teenager lying in the grass near the roadway.

The victim, a 16-year-old boy, was pronounced dead at the scene with obvious trauma injuries. His identity was not immediately released.

Authorities believe he may have jumped off the 18-wheeler and then fell beneath its wheels. He may have been hitchhiking on the truck at the time.

There are no witnesses to the incident, and authorities are hoping to use camera footage in their continued investigation.
