2 women killed in wrong-way crash involving alleged drunk driver on I-35

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Two women in their 20’s were killed in a wrong-way crash involving an alleged drunk driver on I-35 this weekend, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

The crash happened on I-35, near Rittiman Road at about 2:45 a.m. Saturday, as the driver of a Ford F-350 pickup truck, a 58-year-old man suspected of being under the influence, was reported driving the wrong way at a high rate of speed, up to 90 mph.

The Ford then collided head-on with a Nissan Rogue SUV and then overturned and caught fire.

25-year-old San Antonio woman Daniela Nicole Lute and 24-year-old Diana Rubio, the two occupants of the SUV, died on impact due to multiple blunt force injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was pulled from his burning vehicle and was then taken to the hospital.

He is facing two charges of intoxication manslaughter in connection with the crash.
