Driver dead after crashing into pole on Hwy 46 in New Braunfels

NEW BRAUNFELS, TX – A wrong-way driver died after crashing his vehicle into a utility pole on an icy roadway in New Braunfels this afternoon, according to KSAT.

The crash happened in the 800 block of Highway 46 W, near River Tree Driver, at about 2:25 p.m., as the driver of a Ford F-150 pickup truck was driving northbound in the southbound lanes, against the flow of traffic. The driver then went off the side of the road and onto the grassy shoulder, where he crashed into a utility pole.

The driver, 69-year-old New Braunfels man Kennon Mulhollan, was ejected during the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities believe the wintry road conditions played a role in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
