Narrative

A 43-year-old Seguin man died Friday, November 18, after his car hit an 18-wheeler on Interstate 35 in San Antonio’s South Southwest area. The fatal crash happened in the 8700 block of the southbound highway. San Antonio Police responded to the scene shortly after. According to authorities, a tow truck was backing up toward a disabled vehicle on the right shoulder of the highway. A driver in an 18-wheeler moved to the left lane to avoid the truck. In response, a dark sedan in the left lane behind the 18-wheeler swerved toward the left guardrail. A red pickup truck in the right lane slowed down. The SAPD said the victim, who was driving a dark blue Ford Focus in the left lane, failed to slow down. The Ford traveled between the sedan and the pickup. Its driver tried to pass along the right side of the big rig, but hit the back-right of its trailer. Officials said the driver of the Ford died from his injuries at the scene. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office indicated his cause of death to be blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.
