A 17-year-old San Antonio resident was taken into custody Wednesday evening after crashing a car into a building in downtown New Braunfels. The incident occurred near the intersection of West San Antonio Street and Main Plaza shortly after 8:30 p.m. New Braunfels Police said the teen was driving on West San Antonio Street toward Main Plaza when his car went through the roundabout and caused damage to the plaza. The vehicle then collided with the nearby New Braunfels Utilities building. The male driver fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended by police. He was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries suffered in the crash. No other injuries were reported. Authorities said the teen faces multiple charges, including DWI (driving while intoxicated), “Accident Involving Damage to Vehicle, Evading Arrest or Detention, and Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport.”
