Woman in critical condition after crash in south San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A woman, believed to be in her late teens or early twenties, is in critical condition after being involved in a crash on the south side of San Antonio, KSAT reports. 

The crash occurred on Shane Road around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night. The victim was a passenger in a vehicle that lost control after going over railroad tracks and crashed into a tree.

Both the driver and the passenger became trapped in the vehicle. Firefighters were quickly able to free the driver, a man in his forties, but the woman remained trapped for some time. They were both transported to Brooke Army Medical Center where the woman is listed in critical condition.

Police are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the crash.
