SCURRY CO., TX – A 24-year-old Ira man died Monday afternoon in a wrong-way collision along a rural highway just north of Ira.

The incident happened at 1:20 p.m. on FM 1609, which runs north to south between Ira and Snyder.

The investigation indicates that a southbound vehicle entered the northbound lane of traffic on FM 1609, causing a head-on collision with a second vehicle towing a trailer.

The wrong-way vehicle ignited following the crash, and the driver died at the scene of the accident. Authorities identified him as Seth Boynton.

Medics transported both occupants of the northbound vehicle in stable condition to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
