BEAUMONT, TX – A contractor with the Texas Department of Transportation was killed, and another was injured after both were hit by vehicles during a multi-car crash on Highway 69 on Tuesday morning.
According to 12 News Now, the crash happened in a construction zone on southbound U.S. 69, near Tram Road at about 10:30 a.m., when at least three pickup trucks collided and struck two contractors working nearby.
The two victims were taken to the hospital, where one of them, identified as 27-year-old Houston man Andrew Mendez Lopez, was later pronounced dead.
The identity of the other contractor was not immediately available.
