30-year-old pedestrian hit and killed by 18-wheeler on Hwy 69 in Lumberton

LUMBERTON, TX – A 30-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by an 18-wheeler truck on Highway 69 in Lumberton on Friday night, according to 12 News Now.

The crash happened on Hwy 69 near Jenny Lane and April Lane at about 9 p.m., as 30-year-old Jody Alexander Hampshire was reportedly walking in the roadway. He was then struck by the driver of an 18-wheeler truck hauling trailers.

Hampshire was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver stated that he attempted to avoid Hampshire before the crash.

Investigators said that the area where the crash occurred was poorly lit.
