HANKAMER, TX (CHAMBERS COUNTY) – A driver was killed and three children were injured after they were struck by a hit-and-run driver following a separate truck crash on I-10 in Hankamer on Friday night.

After the crash, the driver of the SUV, 50-year-old Port Arthur resident Georgiana Thomas, had gotten out of the vehicle when she was struck by a second driver who then fled the scene.

Thomas died at the scene.

Three juvenile passengers, ages 4, 7, and 8, were taken to the hospital to receive treatment for undisclosed injuries.

The truck driver, 68-year-old Minnesota resident Lyle Kjonaas, was not hurt in the crash.
