Man riding scooter hit, killed by driver on Lucas Dr in Beaumont

BEAUMONT, TX – A man riding a scooter was fatally struck by a driver on Lucas Drive on Thursday night, according to information from 12 News Now.

The collision happened in the 3100 block of E Lucas Dr, near Abilene Street, at around 9:30 p.m., as 39-year-old Beaumont resident Clifford Hudson, Jr., was riding what was described as a “self-propelled child scooter.” He was then struck by the driver of a white Chevrolet Suburban headed westbound.

Hudson died at the scene.

The driver stayed at the scene following the collision.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash at this time.
