UPDATE: Woman dies after pedestrian crash on Fort Blvd in central El Paso

EL PASO, TX — According to KTSM, a Jaurez woman was fatally injured last Friday when she was hit by a pickup truck while crossing a road in central El Paso.

El Paso Police responded to the scene near Fort Boulevard and North Piedras Street, in the Summit Place area. The incident was reported in the late hours of July 22.

The EPPD’s Special Traffic Investigators said the woman was walking westbound across the intersection when she was hit by a male driver in a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck who was making a left turn from Fort Boulevard onto Piedras Street.

It was unclear who had the right-of-way, but officials said the driver had been eastbound and was stopped at a red light at the intersection just prior to the crash.

The victim suffered critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.

Authorities said the driver remained at the site of the crash.

As of this writing, no pending charges or citations have been reported.
