1 dead, 2 injured after wrong-way crash in Lake Jackson involving sheriff’s deputy

LAKE JACKSON, TX – One person was killed and two others, including a Brazoria County Sheriff’s deputy, were injured as a result of a multi-vehicle wrong-way crash in Lake Jackson early Wednesday morning.

According to ABC 13, the collision happened on State Highway 332 near Elm Street at about 1:30 a.m., as the driver of a black Ford sedan was reportedly traveling southbound in the northbound lanes. A sheriff’s deputy headed northbound was unable to avoid the Ford in time, and the two vehicles collided. A third driver then collided with the deputy’s vehicle after the initial collision.

A man riding in the Ford died at the scene. His identity was not immediately released.

The driver of the Ford was airlifted to the hospital in Houston with critical injuries.

The deputy sustained non-life-threatening wounds in the crash and is expected to make a recovery.

The collision remains under investigation at this time.
