Elderly woman injured during two-vehicle crash on 61st St

GALVESTON, TX – An elderly woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash on 61st Street in Galveston on Thursday afternoon, according to information from the Texas Department of Transportation.

The crash happened at 1842 61st Street, near the Lee and Joe Jamail Bay Park and south of I-45 and Broadway Street, at 4:04 p.m., after the 48-year-old driver of a black 2021 Ford failed to yield the right of way in a private driveway.

The front-left end of his vehicle then crashed into the front-right end of a blue 2016 Mazda being driven by a 59-year-old woman.

A passenger in the Mazda, an 87-year-old woman, sustained potential injuries during the crash.

The two drivers were not reported as hurt.
