HITCHCOCK, TX (GALVESTON COUNTY) – A man trying to cross a dimly-lit stretch of Highway 6 in Hitchcock was fatally struck by a driver on Sunday night, according to information from the Galveston County Daily News.
The crash happened on Highway 6 near Highland Bayou Drive at around 7 p.m., when a male pedestrian was attempting to walk across the highway. He was then struck by the driver of an SUV.
The victim, who was identified only as a Hispanic man in his 30s pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver remained at the scene and is not suspected of having been speeding or drinking when the crash happened.
The area where the crash occurred reportedly does not have any streetlights.
