Man killed in rollover crash near railroad tracks in Hitchcock

HITCHCOCK, TX – A man died in a crash located near a set of railroad tracks on Highway 6 in Hitchcock yesterday afternoon, according to the Galveston County Daily News.

The crash happened in the 4500 block of Hwy 6 at around 1 p.m., as the arm crossing bars were lowered in front of a set of railroad tracks for an oncoming train. The driver of an SUV drove around the arms at a high rate of speed.

He lost control of his vehicle, and the SUV overturned. The driver was ejected during the crash.

The driver, who was identified only as a Hitchcock man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported in the collision.

The accident remains under investigation.
