police, crime scene, blue light

BACLIFF, TX (GALVESTON COUNTY) – A Galveston County Sheriff’s deputy was injured in a hit-and-run accident in Bacliff on Tuesday evening, according to the Galveston County Daily News.

The accident occurred on State Highway 146 near FM 646 at around 6 p.m., as the deputy was working a crash involving two other drivers. He was outside of his vehicle when he was then struck by the driver of a gray Toyota pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck did not stop after the crash.

The deputy was able to partly evade the pickup by navigating his body somewhat onto the hood of his vehicle, but he was still sent to the hospital as a result of the crash.

The truck’s passenger-side mirror hit the deputy and was ripped off during the crash.

Authorities are searching for the driver and the suspect vehicle, which would be missing its passenger-side mirror and may have damage to the same side of the vehicle. Those with information are asked to contact the Galveston County Crime Stoppers at 409-763-8477.
