HOUSTON, TX – A 12-year-old girl was injured in a crash that took the life of her father and grandmother in northwest Houston on Sunday night, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez and KTRK.
Last night, at about 9:15pm, a double fatality collision occurred at 10800 N. Gessner Rd. A tow truck and a sedan collided. The tow truck driver (29), hospitalized in stable condition, sustained minor injuries. The driver of the sedan, a female (57), was pronounced deceased (1/2) pic.twitter.com/S53Fa9zMnn

The crash happened in the 10800 block of N Gessner Road near Loyel Point Drive at about 9:15 p.m., as 57-year-old grandmother Julia Moore was driving home with her granddaughter and the girl’s father. Moore, operating a Toyota Corolla, tried to turn left when her vehicle was struck by a Dodge Ram 3500 tow truck.
The tow truck driver, a 29-year-old man, was reportedly speeding when the crash happened.
Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.
John Wurts, the father of the girl, also died at the scene.
The 12-year-old girl was airlifted to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.
The tow truck driver was taken to the hospital for the treatment of minor wounds.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash at this time.
