18-year-old dead, 3 teens seriously injured in alleged DUI crash in Spring

SPRING, TX – An 18-year-old is dead and three teenagers are seriously injured are injured following a crash early Sunday morning in the Spring area involving a teen driver who was reportedly under the influence.

According to KTRK, the collision occurred on Champion Forest Dr near the Grand Parkway feeder road at around 2:40 a.m., as the driver of a Chevrolet Camaro was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed.

The driver, identified as a 17-year-old boy, made a right turn, then crashed into a sign.

His front passenger, 18-year-old Christopher Lujan, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl, both riding in the backseat, were airlifted to the hospital with critical injuries.

The driver, who was identified as Lujan’s best friend, was hospitalized with severe injuries.

Authorities believe that the driver was under the influence when the crash occurred. He is facing one charge of felony murder and two charges of intoxication assault in connection with the crash.
