2 hospitalized after plane carrying 21 people crashes in field in Katy

KATY, TX – Two people were hospitalized after a private plane carrying 21 Astros fans crashed in the Katy area on Tuesday morning, according to KHOU.

The incident occurred as an MD-87 plane was departing the Houston Executive Airport to head to a championship game in Boston. The plane was not able to make it off the runway and crashed through a fence and into a field near FM 2855 Road and Morton Road. The plane then caught fire.

Two people were taken to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

All 18 passengers and three crew members were able to safely depart the plane through the emergency exits.

The accident is being investigated by multiple agencies, including the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
