Crash in Houston kills former Austin Rugby coach

HOUSTON, TX – ABC13 News reports that a two-vehicle crash left a former Austin Rugby coach dead in Houston on Friday.

Authorities say the collision took place shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening. International Rugby player, Pedrie Wannenburg, was driving with his 8-year-old son when their vehicle was struck by an unidentified 16-year-old driver fleeing from police.

The 16-year-old driver fled the scene of the crash, but was later found and arrested for felony murder, reckless aggravated assault, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Wannenburg was killed in the impact. His son sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

An investigation into this incident is ongoing.
