Harris County deputy killed by alleged drunk driver in Houston

HOUSTON, TX – KSAT reports that a Harris County deputy constable was killed after an alleged drunk driver’s vehicle collided with hers in Houston on Saturday.

Authorities say the crash took place around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday evening, when a suspected intoxicated driver slammed into the back of Deputy Constable Jennifer Chavis’ parked patrol vehicle on the freeway. Chavis had initially parked on the side of the freeway to follow and pull over the possibly drunk driver, but the driver wound up striking her vehicle from behind. Deputy Constable Chavis was killed in the impact.

Following the crash, the suspected drunk driver was identified as Adolfo Serrano. Serrano sustained injuries in the collision and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
