HOUSTON, TX – One person was fatally struck by a driver on Telephone Road near the Pecan Park area on Monday afternoon, according to the City of Houston.
The crash happened in the 4300 block of Telephone Road near Winkler Drive at around 3:15 p.m., as the 47-year-old driver of a blue Ford F-150 pickup truck was backing out of a parking lot and into traffic. The pickup truck then collided with a 62-year-old man who was crossing the street.
The victim, whose identity is pending family notification, was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver remained at the scene and was not suspected of being under the influence.
The accident remains under investigation.
