Passenger killed, driver hurt after truck crashes into Uber on Southwest Fwy

HOUSTON, TX – A passenger in an Uber vehicle was killed after the vehicle was rear-ended on the Southwest Freeway this weekend, according to information from KTRK.

The crash happened Saturday on the freeway near Newcastle Drive after the Uber vehicle began to have some unnamed mechanical issue while in a lane of traffic. The vehicle, a Mitsubishi Lancer, was then struck from behind by a truck.

A passenger in the back seat, identified as 39-year-old Misty Holley, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 50-year-old Uber driver was hospitalized for the treatment of broken ribs.

The truck driver, a 30-year-old man, was not hurt in the crash. He remained at the scene and has not been charged with a crime.
