Pedestrian killed by hit-and-run driver in crash on Eastex Fwy

HOUSTON, TX – A woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on the Eastex Freeway early this morning, according to information from Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The crash happened at 14299 Eastex Fwy, on the southbound service road, near Lee Road, before 3:50 a.m., when a female pedestrian was hit by a driver who then fled the scene.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was taken to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was later pronounced dead.

Police closed three traffic lanes on the freeway as they investigated the collision.
