HOUSTON, TX – A woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on the Eastex Freeway early this morning, according to information from Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
@HCSO_VCD units are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash at 14299 Eastex Fwy, southbound/inbound service road, just south of Lee Rd. The crash happened at 14299 Eastex Fwy, on the southbound service road, near Lee Road, before 3:50 a.m., when a female pedestrian was hit by a driver who then fled the scene.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, was taken to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was later pronounced dead.

Police closed three traffic lanes on the freeway as they investigated the collision.
