Woman dies after two-vehicle accident on Business 20 near Midland

MIDLAND, TX — According to Midland Reporter-Telegram, a woman died early Sunday in a crash after a driver failed to yield to traffic on Interstate 20 Business Loop near Midland.

The fatal wreck occurred about eight miles west of the city at around 12:10 a.m.

Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety said the woman was traveling eastbound in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by a 70-year-old man. The Silverado was in a turning lane of Business 20 when its driver tried to turn in front of oncoming traffic, without yielding to the right of way. Shortly after, the Silverado collided with a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck.

The woman, who was in the front passenger seat of the Silverado, died at the scene. DPS said she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Medics rushed the driver of the Silverado to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The driver of the Dodge was not reported hurt.
